Herbalife Celebrates National Wear Red Day® with Group Workout

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States.* That’s why American Heart Month in February is so important to public health. This is a great time of year to commit to heart-healthy habits that can potentially add years to your life.

A Group Workout for a Good Cause

To spread the word about the importance of heart health, the American Heart Association recently hosted its annual National Wear Red Day® on Friday, February 5. This year in Southern California, Herbalife got involved. At our Torrance offices, an estimated 350 independent Herbalife members and employees got a great cardiovascular workout as part of a group fitness camp led by Herbalife Senior Director of Worldwide Fitness Education Samantha Clayton.

“We are honored to collaborate with the American Heart Association in support of their annual National Wear Red Day®,” said Herbalife Chief Health and Nutrition Officer Dr. John Agwunobi. “Our members across the country join the American Heart Association in the belief that education and a healthy lifestyle can help empower women, and we look forward to promoting the benefits of good nutrition and being active.”


And California Assemblymember Mike Gipson, whose district includes Torrance, was in attendance to meet Herbalife members and employees. He presented Herbalife with a certificate of recognition for raising awareness for American Heart Month and for promoting a healthy, active lifestyle that includes a balanced diet and regular exercise. As a nice bonus, T-shirt sales from the event totaled nearly $5,000 with proceeds being donated to the American Heart Association.

National Wear Red Day® occurs the first Friday of each February and consumers are encouraged to wear red, raise their voices, know their cardiovascular risk and take action to live longer, healthier lives.

The Go Red For Women® movement started more than 10 years ago when the American Heart Association learned that more women were dying from heart disease than men. The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke.

Many people trying to make significant changes like losing weight, making better food choices or getting more exercise find it difficult to maintain their motivation and discipline over time.
