Our Dietitian Answers Your Questions: Meet Katherine Larraguibel

Each year the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day in order to recognize food and nutrition experts committed to improving the health of their communities. And to commemorate the occasion, we’re launching a new series introducing members of our Dietetic Advisory Board (DAB), a team of registered dietitians and nutritionists from around the world who provide guidance, training and educational tools about nutrition so that our distributors can support their customers on their journey toward a healthier and happier lifestyle. We’ll continue this Q&A series throughout the year with DAB-approved recipes including their favorite Formula 1 shakes and healthy spins on regional favorites. Enjoy!

Katherine Larraguibel is a Nutritionist with a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine. Based in Chile, she joined Herbalife Nutrition two years ago as a member of our DAB. Learn more about Katherine below:

What is your role with the Company?

My work is to provide training to distributors on basic concepts about healthy nutrition, to teach them the features and benefits of Herbalife Nutrition products, and how to use them.  I also train athletes about the benefits of our products on their performance. I really enjoy speaking at seminars and different educational centers around the country, discussing the features and benefits of our products.

What is the best part of your job?

Since I was very young I have always cared about health and sports so I it’s always a joy to work with our distributors, athletes and fellow nutritionists on a daily basis. The feeling that I can provide added knowledge to people to help them change their lifestyle by generating changes in their nutrition is something I am very proud of.

Everyone, even nutritionists, has a ‘guilty pleasure’ when it comes to food.  What’s yours?

I love sushi!

If you had just one piece of nutrition advice to give to someone, what would it be?

Healthy eating is not only a matter of aesthetics; it is largely a matter of health and wellness.

What are some of the latest diet and nutrition trends in Chile?

An active lifestyle in Chile has seen a boom in the last 2 years, that’s why there’s so much interest on sport nutrition. Functional foods – such as cranberry, maqui, linseed, chia, spirulina and quinoa – are very popular.

If you weren’t a nutritionist, what would you be?

Difficult question, because I’m so happy with my profession…I can’t imagine doing something else!

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I’m very close with my family.  If I’m not at work I am enjoying my family – my parents, husband, and brothers.

Here’s a favorite Formula 1 recipe of mine that I make at home and in the office:
