I’m from Queens, New York and I describe my age as ā€œ40 plus 2 years young.ā€ I’m a single mother of four children, ages 10 to 22. In October 2014, while working as a speech pathologist, I took a vacation to get out of the city for a change of scenery, and, by chance, met an Herbalife independent distributor who would change my life.

Thanks to the extra income I earn through my part-time business, I was able to help my son move to Los Angeles and give him some money to put towards fees he has to pay to pursue a master’s degree. Because of the extra income, I am able to take on fewer speech pathology clients, and have more flexibility in my day so that I can spend more time with my younger children and participate in their school activities.

How It Happened

When I got started on the products, I was immediately hooked on Formula 1 Cookies and Cream Shake, even though I didn’t have much of a fitness regimen, outside my occasional trips to the gym.

With my busy lifestyle, I figured there was just no time to do anything extra when it came to my wellbeing. I thought, ā€˜this is life.’ You drank coffee. You ate bagels. I’m from New York. You don’t smile. You don’t talk to anybody. You mind your business. You do your job. You go home.

Change wasn’t easy, but soon after, I realized the immediate benefits of the HerbalifeĀ® products. The second day, I wasn’t looking for my coffee. I wasn’t snoozing my alarm clock.

I introduced my friends and family to Herbalife Nutrition, and sent them to my sponsor, Brian, to order products. He noticed my natural sales talent and enthusiasm for the products, and he encouraged me to explore the business opportunity as a distributor. It felt like the right thing to do.

I took the next step and became an Herbalife distributor. The money I earned gave me new flexibility I’d never had before. One of the most thrilling milestones came when I realized I could take the afternoons off and meet my youngest daughter at the school bus stop, something I’d always relegated to a babysitter in the past.

For the first time ever in my life, I can be home in time for that [school] bus.

Looking forward, I’m saving to help my son in Los Angeles buy a car, and to keep putting money aside for my kids’ education. I’m also excited to be able to visit my son in Los Angeles without having to ask for time off.

My goal is working my business around my schedule. I can help my kids attend school with my income from my Herbalife business. The flexible schedule will allow me to go on school trips, which is something I’ve never, ever, ever been on … It will allow me to volunteer at their school for things I’ve never been able to volunteer for. I was always the mom that was like, ā€˜Can I just send money in for that?’ I didn’t have time to bake cupcakes.
