In order for good intentions to become a reality, they need to be backed up by a well-organized plan; a roadmap to transition from pure will to actually transforming the world. That is what the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) are, the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address global challenges related to hunger, health and well-being, education, environmental degradation, and peace and justice, among others.

Herbalife Nutrition aligns with several of these goals, and the work our independent distributors do every day contributes to advancing them. That is why this year Herbalife Nutrition has been named for the third year in a row a corporate partner for the Responsible Business Forum on Sustainable Development 2018, to be held in Singapore from October 11 to 12, where I will have the opportunity to speak in two panels allows to further show how our Company is supporting the UNSDG.

For example, UNSD goal number two is “zero hunger”, which aims to ensure access by everybody to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round. Our products are a convenient alternative for people that otherwise would struggle –because of availability or accessibility– to have a meal.

Another important contribution is being made to UNSD goal number three, “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”, through Nutrition Clubs. Our focus on wellness and nutrition-centered grassroots engagement through our network of Nutrition Clubs run by Herbalife Nutrition independent distributors has enabled consumers around the world to benefit from a combination of good  nutrition and fit, active lifestyles. These Clubs not only enable easy access to nutritious products, but they also feature a warm and friendly environment where members come together to exercise and get acquainted with information and advice on how to lead a healthy, active lifestyle, and the tools and social support to do so.

It is crucial to note that Nutrition Clubs not only contribute to the UNSDG, it also provides work and opportunities to people from all over the world. With more than 70,000 Nutrition Clubs in operation around the world, each locally-run nutrition club also serves as a social enterprise. This means we are often creating shared value, generating business in a way that also produces value for society by addressing its challenges. Thus, Nutrition Clubs are providing a unique situation, promoting a business model that is meaningful for the owner while beneficial to the community.

As we gather speed to collectively tackle the key global health issues, NGOs, corporations and governments must strive to align to and work for common goals. This way, the efforts of all of us are strengthened and our positive impact is maximized.
