Investing in Children’s Nutrition: 25 Ways to Give

Many of the rewards that come from working at the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF) are intangible. I think of the happy kids who now have access to good nutrition or thank-you notes we receive from social workers after providing their institutions with kitchen equipment or garden infrastructure.

A couple of stories come to mind and warm my heart. I’m thinking of Camila, a 3-year-old girl who went to Una Nueva Esperanza, a Casa Herbalife Nutrition in Mexico, which supports exclusively low-income families whose children were diagnosed with cancer. Here, Camila is receiving the proper nutrition for her leukemia while getting chemotherapy treatment to gradually improve her health and wellbeing.

There is also Juan Carlos, who was introduced to Fundación Arco Iris, a Casa Herbalife Nutrition in Bolivia. This organization gives children access to basic needs, such as a bed, food, clothing, and education. With their support, Juan Carlos now enjoys three healthy meals a day and has a lot of energy to play and study.

All of this is possible thanks to the generosity of donors who contribute to HNF each year. This year, to continue the celebrations of HNF’s 25thanniversary, we’re launching a special edition of our traditional Year-End Giving Campaign.

The Importance of Giving Back

The rates of global hunger, acute food insecurity and malnutrition are rising and pose some of the largest risks to health. The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations estimates there could be two billion undernourished people by 2050. In addition, food insecurity – a lack of consistent access to enough, nutritious food – contributes to rates of overweight and obesity, as well as malnutrition and developmental disorders.

Children are especially vulnerable to these problems. Chronic under nutrition in early life is linked to reduced schooling, poorer cognitive skills, lower earnings and a higher likelihood of living in poverty. The Casa Herbalife Nutrition program aims to improve the lives of children in need by partnering with existing charities to provide healthy meals and nutrition education to children around the world.

How You Can Support and Give Back

Every year, HNF launches the Year End Giving campaign on Giving Tuesday – the Tuesday following Thanksgiving – a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

This year, we are inviting a selected number of Casa Herbalife Nutrition partners worldwide to participate and raise funds for a specific project needed in their organization from December 3 through December 31, 2019 (the “Campaign Period”).

The dynamic is as follows:

Your donation* made this holiday can make a big impact on the lives of children who count on our support. By providing grants to more than 160 charitable organizations in over 50 countries, HNF has ensured that more than 100,000 children around the globe can rely on receiving healthy meals and nutrition education.

You can take a look at the 25 selected projects and donate* to your favorite one here.

We encourage you to join the Giving Tuesday movement and help us provide kids with the nourishment, care, and education they need to thrive and develop their full potential.

On behalf of the children we support, thank you for helping us make a difference in their lives.
